So, the unlikely is actually happening. Sirius is buying XM to create the one satellite radio company. It seems odd to me due to the fact that XM has historically had many more subscribers than Sirius. But oh well, I guess there is a lot of things I don’t know.

What I do know is that a lot of tech bloggers are turning up their collective noses and saying that satellite radio is a non-issue because of the rise wifi nationwide. What?!?

I find it hard to keep a cell phone connected much less a wifi connection, and on the road, you have to be kidding. Satellite radio is far from dead. Satellite radio has the ease of use that makes it a reasonable option for the hoi polloi.  In other words, have your mother tune to an internet radio station…I dare ya!

The real conversation here is that there is only one source of satellite radio left. No competition is the real problem here, not “pervasive” wifi killing satellite radio.
