Posting From my phone easily

November 08th, 2007 | Category: Geek, Mobile, blackjack, blogging, cell, cellphone, cellular, phone

Wow, finally I can post to my blog from my phone easily. I just uploaded a new plugin called wphone, and it seems to be working really well. I have tried to blog from my phone somewhat successfully but because I have used all sorts of different categories or tags or whatever you want to call them I had to scroll like 15 minutes to get to the window to enter the post. Needless to say, I didn’t want to put myself very often so I didn’t post much from my phone. Now if I could just speed up my thumb typing, all would be good in the world.

Gillmor is Back

November 08th, 2007 | Category: Steve Gillmor, podcast

trainwreck One of the most cryptic yet entertaining podcast webcast is back (I am posting a link to facebook where it is posted for now, I am sure that you can subscribe to it using iTunes by now). It used to be called The Gillmor Gang, and now it apparently is called simply the Gang… whatever you call it or more importantly, whatever Dan Steve is deciding to call it this week, it is back.

It is a collection of web curmudgeons who talk about the web landscape in an all but incoherent way. Most of the time I can’t make heads or tails of it and yet I listen to it religiously.

Dan (I am a moron for getting Steve mixed up with his brother…) Steve Gillmor killed the podcast for some reason a year ago, and now thankfully brought it back.

One of the best parts about the show is Jason Calacanis, the man behind weblogs inc. and more recently, the human powered search engine Mahalo who is one of the most enjoyable personalities blogosphere. He is a divisive force in the web-world who is either hated or loved. There are very few who know anything about him that are indifferent about him.

Calacanis was one of the most-hated guests on Leo LaPorte’s TWIT webcast. I thought he was great. I find his unabashed honesty incredibly entertaining.

I don’t know who would listen to this train wreck, but I can’t tear myself away. Catch it before it is prematurely canceled again.

I AM BACK!!

November 08th, 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

television_broken Wow, finally. Today is Thursday, in fact it is 5:45 PM on Thursday…why is this important? Well, my site, this site, has been down since last Saturday. Apparently, the company that sells server space to the company that I use to host my site migrated to new servers and this migration went terribly, terribly wrong. So, from Saturday until today, I have been down.

I know I haven’t been blogging that much lately, but it is always a comfort to me that I can blog at a moments notice because its there. It’s kind of like growing up in a house that has a swimming pool. You may not swim everyday, but knowing its there is half its value.

I have never had a stronger desire to blog than these past 6 days when I couldn’t.

Wow, I have never heard of a site going down for 6 days! That is an eternity in Internet years. The hardest part was that no one would give a straight answer as to why the site was down. Finally today, I sent an impassioned email to the support staff at my provider and they gave me a link to the status page at Alabanza, the provider that apparently blew up, or at least had the server version of Chernobyl this week.

Well, alls well that ends well, we are back up and running. I need to back this sucker up and keep a copy locally so that next time I can find another host who doesn’t go down for 6 DAYS!!!!!
