Here is a video of an electric wind turbine in Denmark eating itself after the built-in braking system failed during a storm. To give you an idea of how big this windmill is. Look at the base… do you see the truck? Each blade on this turbine is longer than a standard Tractor Trailer rig. Now imagine being below this when it goes…

CNN is reporting that Starbucks will be closing its doors between 4:30 PM and 7:30 PM CST today to train its employees.  So for all you afternoon coffee heads, you will need to get there before 4:30, or you will be out of luck.

NOTE: This story originated from New York, so I don’t know if it affects you wherever you are, but I thought it would be bad form not to at least give you the heads up!

If you complete the game Portal, one of the games included in The Orange Box, you get to hear this catchy little jingle.

It is super cool to see these guys and girl get the chance to rock out. I wish I could have been there.

Security experts speculate on YouTube outage | Tech news blog - CNET News.com

CNET is reporting that Pakistan was allegedly trying to block YouTube due to some content offensive to Muslims.  In the process, they took out YouTube worldwide for over two hours yesterday, February 24th, 2008.

So, let me get this straight…this is possible?  What the?  How can this be? Does this make anyone else just a little nervous?  I mean YouTube is owned by Google, AKA Masters Of The Internets!!! How fragile is everything else in the Internet if Google can’t keep its sites up?

By the way, legislating morality doesn’t work, but that is another discussion all together.

The Nelson’s: Quirkiness Abounds

Here is some quirkyness about me.  I wrote it as a comment on his blog, and then decided to post it here…maybe that is quirky.

1. I go through binge and purge seasons on my computer desktop. Once it hits critical mass…delete it all. …actual desk = sty.

2. Over for toilet paper no doubt

3. I often converse with myself, but even more often, I verbally replay what I just said to someone. I will say something, and then repeat it under my breath after the moment has passed and the person is gone to hear the words again. I have no idea why…it even weirds me out.

BTW… you didn’t backseat drive me when we went on our photo expedition with the daughters… or did you drive that day, now that I think about it, you did drive…nevermind.

I had my camera with me when my nephew Griffin Burdess was being dedicated so I thought, “What the heck, I might as well shoot this…”. And I did, and here it is. I especially like how Griffin’s older brothers really would rather be somewhere else.

I know this is a family video, and I am sorry about the inside baseball, but hey, you gotta show some love some times.

Women’s Online Video Preferences Are Tamer Than Men’s

This article talks about how according to a recent study of online habits, women prefer mainstream video online while men tend to prefer user-generated video. At least in my house, that is exactly right. On most nights, once the kiddos are in bed, Meg and I can be found in the front room of our house. She is watching something on the TV like “The Apprentice” while I am watching The Totally Rad Show on my iPod.

I find that more and more I find the TV less interesting. I would rather find shows that have a laser focus on my interests rather than hearing for the 27th time the Britney is in the hospital….sick o’ dat. In fact, other than some live events that I can’t miss, I could probably get rid of cable all together.
