Rediscovered: Violent Femmes

November 06th, 2008 | Category: 1980s, Music, video

Violent Femmes |MTV Music

I loved these guys back when I was in high school. It has been years since I listened to them, and last night, I did some searching on the internets on Grooveshark and found these guys again. I hadn’t forgotten them, but I just hadn’t listened in a while.

I just went to MTVMUSIC.com, another really cool site that allows you to search and FIND videos to almost any song…heaven. I found a video for Blister in the Sun and thought I would share it here. It has some clips from Gross Pointe Blank which is a bonus. It also has the lead singer taking a shot at a presidential cat, that was weird, but I still loves the song, and the Femmes. I am old.

Ummm……YOUR WELCOME

April 09th, 2008 | Category: 1980s, eighties, video

Merlinn Mann tweeted about this song, and about how it was stuck in his mind all day… I loved this song. But looking at this video, I now question everything about my youth…EVERYTHING.

…I still love the song… what does that mean?

Online Speak and Spell

July 06th, 2007 | Category: 1980s, eighties, nostalgia, speakandspell, texasinstruments, toy

Speak and SpellWhat, are you kidding me? Today in the office I was trying to explain the sound of the Speak and Spell toy from Texas Instruments. It was a little laptop type game from the early eighties that looks ridiculous now but was the stuff back when it came out. Just like the Atari, this is one of those games that takes you right back to your childhood if you are currently in your 30’s like me.

You need to check out this online Speak and Spell. It works just like you remember. It even has the On and Off song/sound effect that I was trying to explain to my co-worker.
